For the Danish crowd – don’t forget that this year’s edition of VED JULELAMPENS SKÆR is out today. Available in paperback and hardback online or at your usual bookstore. My contribution is a short story called “Mig og Jesus” (Me and Jesus).
It’s such an honor, for the ninth time in a row, to be part of Denmark’s oldest Christmas anthology. The first edition saw the light of day in 1918, and it continues to be a Christmas tradition for many. Personally, I remember the row of books on my grandma’s shelf and how I’d steal in and look at them whenever I could. In all honesty, it was for her that I wrote my first Christmas short story in 2008 and submitted it. The smile on her face when she saw the book, the pride I’m pretty sure I saw in her too, is something I’ll never forget. I’m so glad I got to share a Christmas tradition with her in that special way. These days, my mom faithfully takes the copy I give her each year for Christmas with her to bed on Christmas Eve. The tradition lives on.
