You’re preparing to write a book, plotting away, creating characters, and writing more notes than you will ever use. There, on one of the pages, is a clear description of your main character. Height, weight, eye color, favorite childhood memory. You have probably thought of it all. Maybe you start writing and hit a wall, maybe you notice something is wrong before that.
No matter the season, I think it’s the perfect time for reading. But there’s just something about fall that makes you want to curl up with a blanket, something hot to drink, and a good book, isn’t there? In any case, here are a few of my suggestions for this month’s reading. What are yours?
A dear friend gave me this a few years ago, and I was slightly awed that the book had existed without me knowing about it. If you have an interest in Israel, or in the world in general, this is a book for you.
If you haven’t read this already, I strongly suggest that you do. Wartime brides cross the seas to start new lives with the soldier husbands they barely know. It’s been a few years since I read it, but I remember devouring it.
I’m pretty sure I’ve seen this in a translated version, but I realize it might be difficult, if not impossible, to get a hold of. Herman Bang is one of the greatest Danish authors, and this is a masterpiece. I’ve cried over this book so many times, and it’s definitely not a feel-good romance. But it’s worth every tear.
I have the great pleasure of revealing the cover art for the third Morello Cove novel, DREAMING WITH YOU. As always, Shelley Schmidt has made a real gem that I instantly fell in love with. I’d love to hear if you agree.🙂
It’s release day!🙂
Home from the war, Austin is plagued by dark thoughts. Fleur wants to help but soon discovers that loving a man who hates himself is hard. Both fighting inner battles, Fleur and Austin can’t also fight temptation. So they give into it. The result is not something either of them can live with, but they have very different solutions on how to fix the little four-letter problem called LOVE.
Summer’s over – did you get all the summer reading done you’d planned? I’d love to hear about any newly discovered gems or old favorites.🙂 This time I’ll be recommending three new arrivals on my own shelf, but even though they’re relatively new, they seem like old friends.
