No matter the season, I think it’s the perfect time for reading. But there’s just something about fall that makes you want to curl up with a blanket, something hot to drink, and a good book, isn’t there? In any case, here are a few of my suggestions for this month’s reading. What are yours?
A dear friend gave me this a few years ago, and I was slightly awed that the book had existed without me knowing about it. If you have an interest in Israel, or in the world in general, this is a book for you.
If you haven’t read this already, I strongly suggest that you do. Wartime brides cross the seas to start new lives with the soldier husbands they barely know. It’s been a few years since I read it, but I remember devouring it.
I’m pretty sure I’ve seen this in a translated version, but I realize it might be difficult, if not impossible, to get a hold of. Herman Bang is one of the greatest Danish authors, and this is a masterpiece. I’ve cried over this book so many times, and it’s definitely not a feel-good romance. But it’s worth every tear.
