I originally picked this up because I’d just re-read Colleen McCullough’s Morgans Run (recommeded back in February) for the thirtieth time and wanted to read more about how the British used Australia as a solution for their problem with overcrowded jails back in the 18th century. I ended up reading an absolutely breathtaking story.
